Prof Schneider attended the successful 2nd Joint Conferences of the Palaeontological Society of China and Palaeontologische Gesellschaft (Germany). He contributed by being a member of the scientific committee, acting as a session chair, and most importantly by giving an invited keynote lecture. In his lecture, the progress he discussed the recent progress in our understanding of the Cretaceous Terrestrial Revolution (KTR). Specifically, he highlighted the importance of the mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber in studies aiming to reconstruct the paleoecology of mid Cretaceous forests in tropical latitudes. Furthermore, he stressed the need to study the palaeontology of plant genomes to understand the causes of one of the most remarkable macroevolutionary revolutions in the history of lands. The meeting provided a very exciting opportunity to exchange information about the evolutionary history of life and most importantly enabled to establish new collaborations between researchers based in Germany and China.
