Over 20 scientists involving utilization of plant resources gathered together at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) to have a Sino-Korea seminar on February 13. The scientists are from Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), Korea-China Science & Technology Cooperation Center, XTBG, and other institutes. The seminar was hosted by Prof. Pei Shengji of KIB.
Prof. Hu Huabin, deputy director of XTBG, made a welcome speech. He briefed the scientists on scientific research, species preservation, science communication, gardening, and regional participation of XTBG.
The participating scientists including Prof. Liang Xianyu, Prof. Jae Wook Lee etc. introduced trends in natural products research, biomedicine, and so on. Chinese scientists presented on sustainable utilization of plant resources, application of traditional botanical knowledge in cosmetics research and development, overview of Xishuangbanna tropical forest protection, etc.
The two sides may have deeper cooperation in the near future.
After seminar, Prof. Pei Shengji accompanied director Yin Daxiang of Korea-China Science & Technology Cooperation Center and other Korean scientists to living collections and Green Stone Forest.
