Dr. Alice C. Hughes, an assistant professor working at Centre for Integrative conservation of XTBG, has recently become one of the associate editors ofJournal of Animal Ecology. Alice’s work focuses on trying to understand the potential effects of environmental change on the distribution and diversity of Southeast Asian species across extended timescales. She integrates a number of approaches and methodologies, including predictive, empirical and molecular approaches to gain a more holistic understanding of the processes underlying present biodiversity patterns, and using this to extrapolate forwards under potential environmental change scenarios. Journal of Animal Ecology publishes the best original research on all aspects of animal ecology, ranging from the molecular to the ecosystem level. These may be field, laboratory and theoretical studies utilising terrestrial, freshwater or marine systems. According to Journal Citation Reports (JCR), it ranks 20/131 in Ecology, 1/149 in Zoology.
