Dr. Otto Klemm, a professor of climatology at University of Münster, Germany, paid a visit to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on invitation in late August. He made field trip to the flux monitoring systems in the tropical rainforest and the rubber forests, water conservation plot in the tropical rainforest, monitoring equipments for CH4 and N2O, and meteorological observation sites within XTBG. Dr. Otto Klemm delivered a lecture entitled “Eddy Covariance as a Method to Study Turbulent Fluxes of H2O, CO2, CH4, Fog, and Aerosol Particles”. Dr. Otto Klemm exchanged academic ideas with Prof. Zhang Yiping and his team. They also agreed to cooperate in experiment design, project proposal, paper publication, and mutual visits of people of XTBG and University of Münster. Dr. Otto Klemm’s research interests include fog, aerosols, urban air pollution, and micrometeorological exchange processes between the atmosphere and the surface.
