The “International Training Program on Biodiversity and its Sustainable Development for Developing Countries” was officially launched on September 10 in XTBG. 15 trainees from Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Malaysia participated in the program. The training course will last until September 23.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. CAO Min, deputy director of XTBG, delivered a welcome speech. He hoped that the training will help improve science and technology capacity building of developing countries.

The training course includes global strategy for plant conservation, world distribution of plants, general management of botanical gardens, ethnobotanical studies, technology on seed storage and germination, interrelationship between plants and environment, current situation and prospect of energy plants, knowledge on plant introduction and cultivation, plant and soil, Chinese tropical rainforest and its biodiversity, establishment and follow-up check of forest dynamics plot.
Many XTBG research fellows and administrators will be teachers for the training program.
The training program is funded by the CAS Bureau of International Cooperation.
