Dr. Antonio Fernando Caetano Tombolato, director of the Botanical Garden at the Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC) of Brazil, paid a visit to XTBG on invitation during July 29-31. His visit was warmly welcomed by Dr. Li Qingjun, deputy director of XTBG.
Dr. Li Qingjun met with Dr. Antonio Fernando Caetano Tombolato. The two sides exchanged ideas on seed exchange, capacity building, exchange of visits, etc.
Dr. Antonio Fernando Caetano Tombolato delivered a lecture entitled “Ornamental Potential of Brazilian Tropical Native Species”. He also visited living collections and research facilities.
Dr Antonio Fernando Caetano Tombolato and his team of researchers at the IAC have been working for over 30 years on developing anthurium varieties that are well suited to commercial production, particularly in tropical and sub-tropical conditions.
