Dr. Hugh W. Pritchard, a seed biologist of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, visited XTBG on August 4-6. His visit was at the invitation of Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG.
Dr. Hugh W. Pritchard delivered a lecture entitled “Seed Storage of Threatened and Useful Plants”, focusing on the threatened status of cycads, palms, orchids, and chrysanthemum, and seed germination, desiccation tolerance, and storage of some seeds.

During his stay at XTBG, Dr. Hugh W. Pritchard made a thorough tour of the Palm Collection and gave suggestions on the germination of some palm seeds. He also met with XTBG scientists working on orchid plants, exchanging ideas on the germination and storage of orchid seeds.
