Dr. Jürg Stöcklin, professor of botany of University of Basel, visited XTBG during July 27-29, at the invitation of Prof. Zhou Zhekun, deputy director of XTBG.
He delivered a lecture entitled “Effect of cultural tradition and land use on biodiversity of grassland in the Swiss Alps” to the staff and students.
Prof. Jürg Stöcklin visited the ex situ conservation for rare and endangered plants, living collections within the garden, and Dai villages near XTBG. He showed much interest in biological diversity of tropical rainforest, insect pest, and reproductive cloning of tropical bamboo.
Specialities of Dr. Jürg Stöcklin are plant reproductive biology, clonal plants, grassland biodiversity, population dynamics, and alpine ecology.
