Dr. Chen Jin and Dr. Cao Min visit Cambodian Ministry of Environment

On October 23, Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, headed up a 4-person delegation to visit the Ministry of Environment, Cambodia. The aim of the visit was to have discussion on the aid in building Cambodian National Botanical Garden, with His Excellency Mok Mareth, Minister of Environment.

 Dr. Mok Mareth said that the economy of Cambodia maintains a good momentum of growth in recent years and the king pays much attention to environmental protection. The 2 years plus preparation for the construction of national botanical garden received support from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Ministry of Environment is to start part of the construction work in advance.

 

Afterwards, XTBG delegation held discussion with personnel who are in charge of the preparation work of National Botanical garden. On behalf of the preparation group, Dr. Yin Kim Sean, Secretary of State for the Environment, discussed details on further promoting the mission. Some people will be sent to XTBG to learn about the construction and management of a botanical garden. Some XTBG scientists will be invited to make field investigation on the plant resources of Cambodia and provide evidence for plant germplasm collection.

 

His Excellency Mok Mareth hosted a banquet for XTBG delegation.

 

As scheduled, XTBG delegation visited Kulen National Park during October 24-25.
