A joint public education exhibition named “CONNNECTIONS: Tropical Rainforest and People” was grandly opened at Hong Kong Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden (KFBG) on December 2. Executive director Andy Brown of KFBG, director Chen Jin of XTBG, and vice secretary general Han Huaxing of Xishuangbanna prefecture government respectively delivered opening speech.
Co-organized by XTBG and KFBG, the exhibition is to last three months at KFBG. Centered on Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest and its colorful ethnic cultures, the exhibition is aimed to reveal the mystery of tropical rainforest and call for public awareness of protecting biodiversity. On the other hand, it is helpful to bring Hong Kong people to have a better understanding on Xishuangbanna, the kingdom of plants and animals. In addition, it tells Hong Kong people that Xishuangbanna is unique for its rich tourism resources.
Mobile exhibition is to be held in universities around Hong Kong after its completion at KFBG.
Assistant director C.C. Lay and conservation manager Ho Ching-yee of Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department, conservation manager Ken So of the Conservancy Association, Dr. Yau Wing Kwong of Tai Po Environmental Association, and XTBG deputy director Li Hongwei were all present at the opening ceremony.
