During April 16 and May 12, Dr. Jean-Yves Rasplus, a well-known specialist in fig wasp ecology and evolution, came to carry out collaborative research with relevant scientists of the Garden. Together with related research personnel and students of the Research Groups on Co-evolution and Plant-Animal Interactions, Dr. Jean-Yves Rasplus made field studies and collections in southwestern Yunnan.
During his stay in XTBG, Dr. Jean-Yves Rasplus gave a lecture titled “Chrysocarabus species (Coleoptera: Carabidae): an inordinate fondness to hybridize”, which was popular among peer scientists and students.
Since 2001, Dr. Jean-Yves Rasplus has carried out collaborative studies with the Research Group on Co-evolution and 2 papers have been published. He also discovered 2 new fig species in China. Some other achievements have been made too.
Dr. Jean-Yves Rasplus is director of National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), France. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in such important journals as Conservation Genetics, Molecular Ecology, Evolution, etc. He also sits on some editorial boards of the journals like Biotropica, Oikos, Molecular Ecology, Ecological Entomology, etc. |
