Mr. Dharmalingam Mohandass, an Indian postdoc conducting his postdoctoral study at XTBG, has completed his research and passed oral defense on November 27.

Dr. Dharmalingam Mohandass made a presentation entitled Community-level phenology, reproductive success and pollination system of tropical seasonal rainforest of south-west China”. After questioning and answering, the expert panel (composed of Li Qingjun, Gao Jiangyun, Ferry Slik, Eben Goodale, Fan Zexin) put forward some suggestions conducive to his future studies.

Mr. Dharmalingam Mohandass obtained his Ph.D degree from Pondicherry University in 2007. He came to work at Plant Evolutionary Ecology Group of XTBG in 2010, with Prof. Li Qingjun as principal investigator.

During his postdoctoral studies, Dr. Dharmalingam Mohandass focused on community-level propagation characters in Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest. His study has found some evidence that flowering synchrony happened in many dominant trees in Xishuangbanna tropical Dipterocarp rain forests. The flowering synchrony was influenced by seasonal drought or decreased rainfall.

Dr. Dharmalingam Mohandass will continue to work as an assistant professor in XTBG for two years.
