Recently, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China has granted several new Plant Variety Rights (PVR) to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG). This achievement marks significant progress for XTBG in the fields of new plant variety breeding and intellectual property protection.

As a crucial base for biodiversity conservation and research in China, XTBG is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and innovative utilization of tropical plant resources. The seven newly authorized varieties (Names and Variety Rights Numbers: 'Xiyuan 2' 20250941, 'Xiyuan Jiaren' 20251146, 'Jiaren 1' 20251145, 'Jiaren 2' 20251144, 'Fendai' 20251185, 'Baixue' 20251313, 'Shuhong' 20251082) belong to the Bauhinia and Mussaenda genera. These were all developed by the research group led by Wu Fuchuan.

Wu Fuchaun and his team have long focused on the evaluation and innovation of tropical characteristic plant germplasm resources. The creation of these new varieties involved a long process, from wild resource investigation and selection of superior germplasm to cross-breeding and years of stability testing.

Securing these Plant Variety Rights demonstrates XTBG's continuous progress in the artificial breeding and intellectual property protection of characteristic plants. These new varieties hold potential for future applications in areas such as urban landscaping, ecological landscape construction, and specialized agricultural development, injecting new "green momentum" into the construction of a Beautiful China and regional green development.
