In June, the Flower Garden of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) are blooming with various flowers, forming a sea of colors. The colorful Plumeria flowers have also entered their prime viewing period. With its elegant tree shape, vibrant colors, and fragrant aroma, it attracts countless visitors to stroll among the flowers.

Plumeria , also known as frangipani, is a genus of flowering plants in the subfamily Rauvolfioideae, of the family Apocynaceae. It is native to tropical regions of Mexico and Central and South America. The earliest variety of Egg Flower introduced to China was the cultivated species Plumeria rubura "Acutifolia", which has a corolla color that is white on the outside and yellow on the inside, resembling an egg white wrapped around an egg yolk, hence its name egg flower.

This time, over 120 varieties of egg flowers are on display at the Flower Garden, including more than 150 seedlings of 105 varieties and over 1,000 potted plants of 60 varieties.

The egg flower is edible and has high medicinal and health value. It is closely related to religious culture. In the Xishuangbanna region, the egg flower is designated as one of the "five trees and six flowers" and is a mandatory plant for temple greening, hence it is also known as the "temple tree" or "tower tree". Due to its fresh and elegant flowers, charming fragrance, Dai girls often wear it as a hair ornament daily.
