The second Saturday of June was designated as Cultural Heritage Day in China to celebrate the nation's unique cultural treasures. This year's theme is "Protecting cultural heritage, passing on civilization." Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), in collaboration with Xishuangbanna Ornamental Stone Association, held an exhibition named “Spirit of nature: peculiar stones of Xishuangbanna” to celebrate the day. It aimed to showcase the unique natural heritage and artistic charm of the Xishuangbanna region. 40 works of peculiar stones are on display. These works, with their rich and brilliant colors and various natural shapes, show to the audience the perfect combination of natural beauty, cultural beauty, and historical beauty. Each stone is a story, and each piece is the crystallization of nature and art. Xishuangbanna, the land where the Lancang River (Mekong River) flows through, has nurtured countless peculiar stones. These stones, after being washed by the river water for tens of thousands of years and sculpted by natural forces, have formed their unique shapes and charms. They not only record the passage of time but also showcase the marvelous craftsmanship of nature. The peculiar stones of Xishuangbanna will be on display until September.
