Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) held opening ceremony of its first exhibition of natural history paintings on April 8. It displayed 60 drawings depicting plants, animals, and other organisms found on the earth, mostly in Xishuangbanna.

At the opening ceremony, CPC secretary Gan Fanyuan of XTBG welcomed all the artists and recognized the garden as an ideal place to create art works, thanks to its beautiful landscapes, friendly scientific environment and remarkable science and technology achievements.

Artist representatives showed gratitude to XTBG for organizing the exhibition. They said that art and science have coexisted, often indistinguishable from each other, across time and space. The exhibition provides platform for artists and scientists to communicate with each other. It also enhances communication among artists.

XTBG has been attaching importance to coherent development of science and art. Some renowned artists like Zeng Xiaolian and Wang Jinyuan have benefited a lot from the garden to create art works.
