With the theme of “ Education assists ecological civilization—biodiversity conservation education and communication after 2020”,  the 5th Luosuo River Forum for Science Education was held online from December 7-8.

Representatives from multiple organizations and professions gathered online to discuss how to systematically and innovatively promote the development of ecological civilization.

“Chinese botanical gardens are dedicated to scientific research, species preservation and science communication. This forum will assist in ecological civilization from the perspective of education. XTBG will continue contributing to it,” said Prof. YANG Yongping of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) at the opening ceremony.

Many renowned scholars like Wei Fuwen, Ma Keping, Zheng Yonghe and others speak at the forum and discuss issues concerning biodiversity conservation and ecological civilization.

3 plenary speeches, 10 thematic presentations help the participants better understand biodiversity science education in the new era and how education can assist in ecological civilization.

An online symposium was also held to discuss how to combine education with ecological civilization. Prof. Chen Jin chaired the symposium. The speakers discussed the issues from perspectives of basic education, higher education, and extra-curricular courses, etc.

The participants at the forum call for people to deeper combining theory and practice, and explore the science content of ecological civilization.
