HU Sifan wins best oral presentation award at 4th Yong Natural History Scientists’ Meeting

The 4th Yong Natural History Scientists’ Meeting was hosted by the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (Paris, France) from 7th to the 11th of February 2017. It brought together young researchers in natural history from worldwide to communicate and present their research. Ms. Hu Sifan of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) was present and won best oral presentation award at the Session: “Humanities and Natural Sciences”.

  The 4th Yong Natural History Scientists’ Meeting covered all aspects of natural history and divided into six sessions:

- Biodiversity Dynamics and Conservation

- Humanities and Natural Sciences

- Systematics, Evolution and Comparative Anatomy

Earth and Planetary Sciences

- Evolutionary Ecology

- Methods in Natural Sciences

 Ms. Hu Sifan presented her study entitled “The effectiveness of place-based strategies on climate change communication” at the session “Humanities and Natural Sciences”. Her presentation was about a climate change educational program that adolescents communicated with local seniors (aged ≥ 60 years) in focus groups to discuss local climate over the past decades. The results showed that place-based strategies that highlight the relevance of global climate change through local impacts and individual experiences vis-a-vis intergenerational communication have considerable potential to promote greater engagement with global issue.

  Her presentation won “Best Oral Presentation” award.
