March witnesses trees become lush and flowers blossom into different colors in Xishuangbanna. The botanic garden is an ideal place to experience Spring and interact with nature. To increase environmental awareness, a series of activities are organized by Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG).
Students from Mengla and Menglun observe nature in the garden. While experiencing Spring in the beautiful garden, they are also keen observers of the natural world by drawing and writing about trees, flowers and grasses in the field. By combining drawing and writing, the kids and middle school students use their senses to record what they feel, see, hear, and touch at a particular point in time.
To increase environmental awareness and inspire nature journaling, XTBG and Xishuangbanna National Nature reserve Administration are jointly organizing a contest of nature journaling among students aged from 6 to 18 in 2016. The activity will help young children discover nature, record what they see, experience and feel about the natural world. They will become aware of the environment around them and develop their sense of connection with it by participating in the contest.
