Environmental Interpretation is an education activity which examines and reveals in an attractive way the characteristics of an area and its biophysical and cultural relationships through direct experiences which generate enjoyment, sensitivity, knowledge and commitment to the values interpreted. Usually, it includes personal interpretation and non-personal interpretation.
Interpretation is not only transferring information to the public, which emphasizes on how to build tangible and intangible connection between the public and gardens. In western countries, environmental interpretation is treated as an academic area to be studied in the universities.
XTBG introduces environmental interpretation theory into wayside exhibit planning, tour guide training and educational programs development, which improves the tourists’ satisfaction during their visit. Ximin Wang also was invited to give speech on environmental interpretation in different workshops organized by State Forest Administration, WWF, and TNC.
