In this peak winter camp season, more than 500 primary and middle school students got a chance to closely work with the scientists at XTBG while taking part in winter camp. Many professors, associate professors and graduate students volunteered in popularizing scientific knowledge of tropical ecological studies and conservation.
Prof. Yang Darong, Dr. Rhett Harrison, and Dr. Eben Goodale are keynote lecturers in this season. Their clear and attractive lectures were aimed at popularizing science knowledge, spreading science ideas and promoting science literacy among adolescents.
XTBG graduates (representatives of almost all of the research groups) are also engaged in this activity. They designed a lot of wise experiments to lead the kids and students to engage in scientific activities and learn science methods.
The winter camp not only creates opportunities for adolescents to engage in scientific activities but also sets up a bridge between scientists and adolescents to become friends, meanwhile promoting the idea of biodiversity conservation.
“Hands in hands between scientists and adolescents” has become a brand popular science activity in XTBG. More and more participants will benefit fro it.
