Fireflies are winged beetles that their lower abdomen can produce yellow, green, or pale-red lights. They are a sure sign of summer. To celebrate the fireflies, introduce the importance of preserving nature, and to promote tourism, XTBG is hosting the Firefly Festival from April 22 to June 5. All nature lovers are welcomed.

A series of activities have been planned for the 2012 XTBG Firefly Festival, including watching fireflies in the evening, guided firefly tours, getting postal cards themed with fireflies, and firefly essay contest, etc.

XTBG is gifted with a perfect environment, where fireflies can be seen all-year-round, including winter fireflies that are rare and precious. Please come and enjoy them in the peak season in summer.

Come to the firefly festival, you will enjoy one evening with the glow of fireflies, flickering and flying on the botanical garden. The firefly sparkles will enhance your satisfaction!

To participate in the firefly essay contest, please send your essays related with Earth’s living lanterns, the fireflies to kepu@xtbg.org.cn.
