48 secondary school students and teachers from Macau Angligen College held a summer camp in XTBG during May 10-12, where they experienced tropical rainforest, learned how to do scientific research, and listened to lectures.
During the 3-day summer camp, the participants experienced going through a tropical rainforest and learned field survival. Their wildlife watching in the evening opened the wildlife watching season in XTBG.
In cooperation with XTBG research groups, the participants were encouraged to counduct four minor subject research projects which are themed observation on environmental adaptability of leaves, flower structure and reproduction, invasion of Eupatorium adenophorum , and correlation analysis of leaf pH and soil pH respectively.
An interesting lecture entitled “Figs and fig wasps: A keystone interaction in tropical forests” was delivered by Dr. Rhett Harrison.
In addition, the participants had a chance to have bird watching and ethnic plant studies.
