The National Science Popularization Day is an annual event held in the third week of September by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). The theme of the 2010 National Science Popularization Day is “Stick to scientific development, achieve a low-carbon life”.
To celebrate the National Science Popularization Day, XTBG organized a series of activities, such as “increasing low-carbon awareness among local primary school students”, “collecting cartoon images of low-carbon life”, “thematic exhibition” and “show cartoon videos of low-carbon life” as well.
The students and visitors who participated in the event showed much interest. They said they have had a better understanding on low-carbon life and would advocate the idea of saving energy and resources, protecting ecological environment as wide as possible. Some students also put forward innovative ideas for ways to living low-carbon life styles.

The National Science Popularization Day was launched to memorize the promulgation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Popularization of Science and Technology, which was adopted at the 28th Meeting of the Ninth National People's Congress of China on June 29th, 2002. Since 2003, CAST has initiated National Science Popularization Day all across the nation with various themes aiming at cultivating a social environment of respecting science, paying special attention to science and using science and continuously undertaking science popularization activities with public engagement.
