66 middle school students participating in the Science Promotion Summer Camp 2010 of Macao arrived at XTBG on July 7. The combination of learning about plants and orienteering provided a chance to unleash the students’ scientific potential.
The competitive form of land navigation – orienteering led the participants to all cornors of the wonderful tropical botanical garden and experience the mysterious plant world. By using a map and compass, the participants navigated through the garden to locate control points. When all the 12 control points were collected, the logo of XTBG could come into being.
The participants also visited the living collections and tropical rainforest within XTBG. To have a better memory of the unique scenes of the tropical rainforest, the students imitated dancing grass, sensitive grass, and plank buttress, etc.
In an entertaining and enlightening atmosphere, the participants were given a taste of the joy of scientific research.
The science promotion summer camp 2010 is organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the University of Macau (UM) and sponsored by the Science and Technology Development Fund. It kicked off on July 3.
It’s the second time that Science Promotion Summer Camp 2010 of Macau cooperated with XTBG. The first cooperation took place last July.
