A seven-day winter camp for middle school students from Beijing kicked off at XTBG on January 29 and successfully completed on February 4. The winter camp was themed with “exploration of tropical rainforests”.

During the 7 days, the students had scientific observations on photosynthesis process of plants, interactions of figs and fig wasps, pollination of orchids, diversity of spiders, bees, etc. They also learned about environmental education.

The winter camp was inspiring and productive. Through it, the students got a better understanding on tropical rainforests, increased the awareness of biodiversity conservation and keenness on nature.

The winter camp was co-organized by XTBG andBeijing Teenager Science & Technology Club. The first winter camp was held in January 2008. It is organized biennially.
