Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest Science Popularization Week closes in Shanghai

The Xiahuangbanna Tropical Rainforest Science Popularization Week, which opened at Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM) on September 28, smoothly closed on October 7.

The opening ceremony of the science popularization week was presided over by Dr. Jin Xingbao, vice director of SSTM.  Mr. Pan Zheng, director of SSTM, made a welcome speech. Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, and Mr. Jiang Pusheng, the CPC secretary of Xishuangbanna, attended the opening ceremony.

 

 The 10-day science popularization week focused on the mysterious tropical rainforest and unique ethnic cultures in Xishuangbanna. 17 exhibition panels, 23 animal specimens, 36 plant specimens, and costumes of the 6 main ethnic groups in Xishuangbanna were shown at Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. The exhibits were mainly provided by Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest Ethnic Culture Museum of XTBG and the Natural Museum of Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve. On the very opening day, many visitors were attracted to the Museum.

 

  Prof. Li Qingjun delivered a lecture entitled “Pollination Biology and Plant-Animal Co-evolution” for the visitors on September 28.
