At the invitation of Hong Kong Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden (KFBG), a 5-person XTBG delegation paid a public science education tour to Hong Kong during August 13-23. Dr. Chiu Sein Tuck, head of the Education Department at KFBG, gave a warm reception to the XTBG group.
In retrospect to the cooperation between XTBG and KFBG, both sides were satisfied. When mentioning the art and environment exhibition named “Voice of Nature” held at XTBG last year, Mr. Zhu Hongxiang talked about the post survey and evaluation work, Dr. Chiu Sein Tuck spoke highly of all the efforts XTBG had put to make it successful. They also discussed plans for further and deeper cooperation. They have primarily agreed to co-sponsor the exhibition of “The Mystery of Xushuangbanna Tropical Rainforest” at KFBG in April 2007. The Education Department of KFBG also planned to give financial aid to poor youngsters in Xishuangbanna in the near future.
With enthusiastic help of KFBG, the XTBG personnel of public science education also visited many related gardens and farms and communicated with relevant counterparts during their stay in Hong Kong.
Back from Hong Kong, the XTBG delegation also visited Shenzhen Botanical Garden and South China Botanical Garden. They made exchanges and communications with the two gardens on public science education and landscape designing.
