On April 8, the exhibition named “the Beautiful Wonderland, Xishuangbanna” jointly sponsored by Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Xishuangbanna prefectural government and China Science & Technology Museum opened ceremoniously in China Science & Technology Museum, Beijing.

   Mr. Tomur Dawamat, vice chairman of the 9th NPC Standing Committee was invited to present at the opening ceremony. Attending the opening ceremony were also Vice President Xu Shanyan of the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST), director Chen Jin of XTBG, Vice  sheriff Huang Shan of Xishuangbanna prefectural government, Director Wang Yuzhou of China Science and Technology Museum, and relevant leaders from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Association for Science and Technology, China National Tourism Administration, China Research Institute on Science Popularization, etc. About 1,000 audiences participated in the opening ceremony.

    One hour prior to the opening of the exhibition, Prof. Zhu Hua delivered a lecture titled “Tropical rainforest and its biodiversity conservation”.

   The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Wang Yuzhou, director of China Science and Technology Museum. As representatives of XTBG and Xishuangbanna prefectural government, Prof. Chen Jin and Ms. Huang Shan addressed the opening ceremony from different points of view.

   CAS president Lu Yongxiang, who’s also vice chairman of the 10th NPC Standing Committee, and CAS vice president Chen Zhu respectively sent a letter of congratulation extending warm congratulations to the opening of the exhibition.

   Mr. Tomur Dawamat, Mr. Xu Shanyan, Prof. Chen Jin and Ms. Huang Shan cut ribbons for the opening ceremony. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the leaders, guests and audiences enjoyed cultural performances and the exhibition. All the participants spoke highly of the performances and the arrangement of the exhibition.

   About 20 media agencies covered the exhibition on the opening day.

   The exhibition is an integration of research, science popularity, culture and tourism, which helps not only to present Xishuangbanna and spread the knowledge of tropical rainforest but to boost the social and economic development of Xishuangbanna.
