Major research interests include 1) paleoenvironment and biodiversity change caused by major geological events such as the uplift of the Himalayas and the onset of the Asian monsoon system, and its corresponding effect on the distribution of plants; 2) morphological responses of plants to climate change and consequent changes in plant distribution; 3) reconstruction of the paleo-CO2 environment, and paleoelevation; 4). taxonomy, fossil history, modern distribution, phylogeny, conservation, and ecology of the Fagaceae and other main elements of eastern Aisa
