Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analysis of the Response Regulator (RR) Gene Family in Sacha Inchi

First Author: Chen, Weiyue
Abstract: Response regulators (RRs) play critical roles in cytokinin signal transduction pathways and regulating plant growth and development. However, no research has investigated RR genes in Sacha inchi. In this study, we identified a total of 19 PvoRR members from the Sacha inchi genome. Phylogenetic analysis classified these 19 PvoRR members into three groups: six type-A, ten type-B, and three type-C. Motif analysis suggested that PvoRRs were relatively conserved within each group. Cis-acting element analysis indicated that PvoRRs might respond to phytohormones, light, and abiotic stress. Fourteen PvoRR members were located on 12 of the 29 chromosomes of Sacha inchi. Examination of gene expression showed all of PvoRRs had higher expression levels in young roots than other tissues. PvoRRs exhibited different expression patterns in pistillate and staminate flower buds at different developmental stages, indicating their distinct roles in regulating floral sex differentiation. Six type-A, four type-B, and two type-C PvoRRs were responsive to 6-benzylaminopurine treatments. Furthermore, three type-B PvoRRs of the five selected members exhibited transcription activation ability in yeast. Further investigation revealed that these three type-B PvoRRs also possessed transcriptional activity in tobacco leaves. In conclusion, these results provided comprehensive data on the fundamental characteristics and expression patterns of PvoRRs, laying a molecular basis for further functional studies of PvoRRs.
